A FEW QUICK FACTS TO AMAZE  YOUR FRIENDS

CARBON OFFSETS:

To offset your commuting carbon footprint:

1 tree absorbs 650lbs of CO2 over its lifetime.

This is the same as driving 740 miles.

For the average driver, to offset your automobile travels for 1 year, you could plant just 20 trees. (12000 miles driven annually generates 2.42 tons of CO2 as per carbonfriendly.com, offset this for $30.25).

An increase of only 10% in gas mileage would result in a savings of 55 gallons of gasoline per year for an average driver. (12000mi/20mpg=600gal-12000/22=55gal). (650lbs CO2) / 740mi = 0.878 lbs/mi or 1.14 mi/lb.

EMPLOYERS & SCHOOL SYSTEMS:

Consider implementing a 10 hour day 4-day work week would eliminate one commuter day per week for all employees. Even a 9 hour day with every other Friday off would eliminate 2 commuter days per month. Obviously, some business can’t close their doors one day per week; but perhaps some departments within a company could do this. Find out now how to make your office healthier and  greener.

NATURAL GAS VEHICLES:

In addition to electric vehicles, there are nearly 200,000 natural gas vehicles in the United States, nearly 800,000 worldwide. Compressed natural gas is a proven technology that reduces emissions and gets you off of foreign oil and onto a cleaner burning fossil fuel found in your back yard. This also eliminates the transportation costs and carbon footprints for the shipping from the Persian Gulf to you. If you already have a gas stove or gas heat, you can simply refuel by plugging in at home ! Added bonus is that at current prices and MPG the average driver should save $100/month on their fuel bill ! (see Pickens Plan). The ultimate car for this decade according to our Green Energy researchers would be the triple threat, gasoline,  natural gas, & electric (with or without the hydrogen), in an affordable package. Where is this car?

NUCLEAR ENERGY NOW? WHY?

When compared to burning any fossil fuel nuclear energy is considered safer and cleaner by most Green Energy researchers. Safe BWR reactor designs have experienced a revolution over the past 20 years. Today's reactors are cleaner and safer than ever. Is now the time for nukes? We explore this in our next newsletter.
